Thanks to each of you we CAN all make a difference!
Blue Moon Akita Rescue thanks everyone who has enriched our lives over the years, particularly those of you who have given our Akitas homes. Providing each of these special Akitas with a life full of love and the forever home they so richly deserve, you have given our orphans the greatest gift of all. And those of you who return to Blue Moon to give back and help other Akita orphans -- you are so amazing.
That being said, I would be remiss if I didn't mention ...
My partner Bill and our daughter Kristen. Too many times to count, you've driven through a blizzard to pick up an orphan, eaten a ton of mac and cheese to keep the kidz on the premium food they need, cleaned up after, bathed, medicated, walked , groomed, fed and still had the fortitude to stay up all night comforting a sick dog -- and you've done it all without complaint. You two are amazing and I love you so much.
Don and Stephanie O. -- thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating this web site and -- more importantly -- for providing Kibo with the love and security of his own "forever home."
Pat and Joe C ... who since 1973 have always been there for me and the Akita breed, thank you for your ongoing kindnesses, particularly for your help with Lugar last August (he owes his life to you) and for the wonderful homes you have provided to Tojei, Bounce, Mogami, Bandit, Blaze and Koko over the years ... heck we've been working with Akitas longer than most folks stay married!. It's been a heck of a ride for all of us, hasn't it.
Susan McK, proud mom of Akitas Lucy and Oliver for your ongoing counsel, support and willingness to pitch in and help out in working with the latest batch of "kidz" here at Blue Moon, and most particularly for the gift of your friendship over the years.
Rae R, adopter of Missouri Akita "Hattie/Minka" and showing her what unconditional love is, and for all the time you spend with the orphans and the gift of your friendship
Dr Steve Feldman, DVM of VetCare Animal Hospital in Denver, CO and tecs Jo, Janine, Christine and Bill for always being there when we need you and for taking such incredible care of my own Akitas, cats, birds, reptiles and ... the many many Akita orphans you see on a regular basis. You treat each with such loving care and concern that you make us all feel very special -- and for some of these dogs, "special" is a totally new experience in their lives. Thank you so much.
Matt LeBlanc of Nature's Select for providing me with a premium dog food at an affordable price. I can't imagine feeding anything else. You can learn more the Nature's Select product at www.gonaturesselect.com. I feed it to my Akitas and have a Min Pin on the same diet. I really believe it is this premium food that helps these dogs to bounce back so quickly, as so many are in such bad shape when they arrive at Blue Moon.
Linda and Lisa of CARE Transport - without you there would be so very many more dogs who would not survive the shelters in KS and MO -- certainly between July of 2007 and August of 2008, there have been 17 Akitas transported from kill shelters to Blue Moon. http://www.caretransport.org/stories/akitas.html
Cindy S of Westwind Akitas - you have sheltered orphans, provided crates, transport, grooming and counsel. A reputable breeder of amazing Akitas, you truly understand the concept of giving back to the breed and helping those dogs who find themselves abandoned by the people to whom they had trusted and devoted their lives.
Cheri K - it's hard to imagine that it's been this long and every day there are still more Akitas to find homes for ... we've really been doing this for almost 40 years ... can you believe it?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-c5tDbAW7vQ
Joann D and Polly S of Akita Rescue Western New York - I don't even know where to begin; "thank you" is just not enough for all you have done for the Akita breed. http://www.akitarescuewny.com/welcome.htm
Cynthia and Tony - well we had quite a busy spring and summer, didn't we!
Deb of Akita Advocates Relocation Team Arizona - for the many courtesy listings on your website for my orphans and referrals http://www.akitaadvocates.com/
Chrisan of New Mexico Akita Rescue for the referrals and the good "dog talk" http://www.newmexicoakitarescue.com/index.html
Lisa of Blue Lion Rescue & Sanctuary - you've always got my back and find a place for "one more" ... you are amazing and I am so grateful for all you do for the Akitas .... never thought I'd find an Akita in love with a Mastiff, but at least they're not going to create any big busy babies ... it'll be interesting to see if anyone steps up for that Dyanmic Duo. http://www.bluelionrescue.org/ and http://www.uglydawgs.com/
Carl of KC MO Rescue - for the many things you do for the Akitas, and for the unconditional love you give to all the animals ... thanks for the great picture of the two "big dawgs". You've always got our back in KC and we sure appreciate it. http://www.carlnylund.com
Mark of KC MO Springer Rescue - for a guy who's so into spaniels, you sure save a lot of Akitas! Thanks so much for always being willing to get outside the box to save another dog.
D'Ann and Marlene of Critters Rule in Maryville MO - for so very many things that you do to help me, and most particularly for saving our dear Banjo Jack -- he would never have found Wayne and Christine without you driving that bus! I can hardly wait for the DNA results to see exactly what Banjo really is ...
Winding River Kennels in KC - for your patience, honesty and kindness in caring for the Akita orphans I send to you to wait for "their turn" to come to Colorado to wait for that forever home.
