Riley's New Home

Some things just will never make sense.  Finding Riley and her litter of feral puppies in the dead of winter in the absolute middle of nowhere on the Kansas plains is one of those things.  No idea how she got there.  No idea how she managed to den up, whelp her babies and hunt enough to feed the family.  For a single dog to survive in that coyote country is unusual; for a young momma alone with her puppies is its own miracle.  Riley and the kids were whip thin when they were found, caught and brought to rescue ... but they were remarkably healthy and the babies were all about doing exactly "what momma says."   Today Riley makes her home with Tobias, a senior Akita, and their forever mom on top of a mountain in Kiowa, Colorado.  Riley's approach to taking care of her family hasn't changed ... she's all about managing her mission.
