Kieko has earned her retirement
When you were a child, did you ever read
the story of Black Beauty? In many ways, that child's story parallels
the real life of sweet Angie/Kieko. We don't really know where she
began, but we do know she spent several years being bred regularly at a
puppy mill. We do know that she had problems with a litter of puppies
there and was given to a back yard breeder to "see if he could get
another litter or two out of her". We do know that she then had
another litter without problems and the "breeder" kept one puppy from
that litter and then bred this gentle soul again immediately. She had
complications, the litter died and she was found tied out back without
food or water, nearly dead. The samaritan who found her asked the
owner what the deal was and was told the dog was of no further use and
to take her if they wanted her.
Kieko's savior was a lady whose husband is a long haul trucker out of
MO. She travels a lot with her husband and she could not keep this
gentle girl, so she took Kieko to a vet, got her healthy and spayed and
then contacted Akita Rescue. Sweet Angie Kieko then came to Blue Moon
to wait for her forever home and last May (08) she left Blue Moon for
Park City UT where she is finally receiving the love and care that so
many Akitas will never know. Thank you, Dee, for taking this sweet
senior girl into your heart and home.
