Jethro's Home

Jethro and his brother were probably somebody's Christmas gifts.  In early February of 2008, Jethro and his littermate were found wandering near the reservation in Gallup, New Mexico; they were about 3 months old.  Shelter time in Gallup is seriously limited due to space restrictions; nobody claimed the pair and nobody stepped up to adopt either of them.  The boys were accepted by Akita Rescue and Blue Moon made a commitment to bring them home.    Although seriously underweight, their little puppy collars had probably been put on for Christmas morning but now had been left on for so long that they were  embedded in the necks of these sweet babies and had to be surgically removed; that was done at the shelter, they got their shots and began their journey.  A good samaritan brought the babies from Gallup to Albuquerque and while they waited out bad weather on Raton Pass, New Mexico Akita Rescue found a qualified adopter and so Jethro's brother stayed in New Mexico and little Jethro continued his journey to Denver.  He arrived in Denver and was here three days when Joni took him home to Brighton.  Today Jethro lives with Joni, a lab (Jake) and a herd dog (Thelma), several cats and assorted horses, donkeys and miniature horses.  Life is good!
