"The Akita Formerly Known as Gunner"  (now rechristened "Koda") came from the Springfield, MO shelter where he was pulled on the day before he was scheduled to be euthanized.  Koda was a pretty adolescent who was about 20 pounds underweight.  Koda is a patient, loving fellow who singlehandedly helped me learn more than I ever wanted to know about parasites.  Once we finally got rid of all the freeloaders, he gained weight and energy very quickly.  What a sweet boy!
