About Blue Moon Akita Rescue
Our family has been owned, protected and loved by Akitas continuously since 1972. During that time have had the pleasure of knowing, loving, living with, training, showing and doing rescue work with this wonderful breed. What is Blue Moon Akita Rescue? As rescues go, Blue Moon is small, but that works in our favor as we provide our orphans with a homelike atmosphere and individual attention. In the last two years we have successfully placed over twenty Akitas into loving family homes. Here at Blue Moon Akita Rescue we keep our Akita orphans until they find their forever homes. Some are adopted quickly while others take a while. Regardless of the time spent here each and every dog gets filled with love, good food, medical care and lots of attention. While these special dogs are with us, we ensure they have a safe, comfortable place to live, good exercise, fun toys, lots of love, good veterinary care, and some obedience training. We spend quality time getting to know each Akita so we can pair him/her up with the perfect individual or family to ensure a loving relationship in a successful forever home.
All Blue Moon Akitas have been spayed or neutered, microchipped and are current on vaccinations prior to placement. Each dog is crate trained and most have a solid foundation in basic obedience training. Advanced training for adopters and their new Akita is available at no charge regardless of where your Akita came from.

problem. Blue Moon is happy to assist you in connecting with another
rescue to help match individuals with the best dog to meet their
family's activity level and needs.
Our mission is to see as many orphan dogs placed in loving forever
homes as possible. If those orphans are from Blue Moon, that's great,
but if we're too far away or don't have the dog you are looking for,
please know that we are here to help you find the right Akita (or other
dog) for you and your family. Send us a note, tell us where you are
and what you are looking for and we'll see if we can't connect you with
a rescue in your home state.
Blue Moon's focus is on the mission. Our mission is to ensure that
every dog we place into a home will NEVER again be homeless -- our
mission is to see that every Blue Moon placement is forever home.

Location
We are located near Denver, Colorado and realize that's not always the most convenient place to visit. We have placed Akitas in forever homes in ten different states from Washington to Vermont, but we do not ship our dogs. To that end, if you think you would not like to travel to Colorado for a Blue Moon Akita, we are very happy to assist you in networking with other Akita rescues across the United States.
